Ecotourism in Barra de Santiago
On this tour, you will be able to experience the some of the best activities that the Barra de Santiago has to offer. This tour begins with a walk to a bird sanctuary, where you will be able to take pictures of many species of birds.
Then you will head to a special protected area, called El Zapatero Canal, where hunting and fishing are prohibited. Here you will be able to the beauty of the mangrove forest and take pictures of a wide variety of marine birds, crocodiles, schools of fish and other species in this ecosystem.
Next up is a 45 min. walk around El Cajete Island, home to archaeological ruins and the famous Barra de Santiago legend, Shasca. At last you will visit a beautiful beach at the mouth of the estuary where you can relax in the sand or enjoy a swim in the waves.
