Area Santa Rita

This lovely flora and fauna nature walk will take you through one of the most representative and exotic ecosystems of El Salvador's coastal plains, the Santa Rita Protected Area. The immense trees and incredible natural beauty of the exotic vegetation of this place will amaze you.

This guided tour is 1,000 meters (0.6 miles) long, and along the way the guide will make several stops to explain the interesting facts and hidden marvels of this semi-humid tropical ecosystem. One of the stops is below a daunting observation tower whose view lets you look across the treetops. While the view is impressive, climb at your own risk.

car By Car: Take the highway from San Salvador to Sonsonate. At the coastal highway bypass (before reaching Sonsonate) turn left toward the coast as if going to Acajutla. At "Kilo 5", turn right toward La Hachadura, the Guatemalan border. Drive 30.4 km. (18.9 mi.) to Santa Rita or "Kilo 117.5". Santa Rita
bus By Bus: In San Salvador, take the 205 to Sonsonate. Then find route 28 or 259 goes to La Hachadura, the Guatemalan border. Ask the driver where to get off for Area Natural Santa Rita.
