With over 3,800 hectares (9,390 acres) to explore, El Imposible National Park is one of El Salvador's most outstanding wildlife sanctuaries and home to a fantastic diversity of flora. Here you can find over 1,000 species of plants and trees, some of which are endemic (native) to the region. If you are a nature lover, this leisurely walk is for you! The guide will lead you along the wooded trail, making 10 stops to describe the natural wonders of the park. Afterwards you'll return to the Mixtepe Visitors Center to finish up the tour. El Imposible is located just 110 kms west of San Salvador and forms part of the Apaneca-Ilamatepec Biosphere Reserve.

By Car: The turn to the park is located at km. 107 along the coastal highway (Highway 2) that goes to the Guatamalan border, La Hachadura. Turn right just after crossing the Ahuachapío River bridge and drive for 13.5 km (8.4 mi) to the park entrance. |

By Bus: In the Sonsonate terminal, take the bus that goes to the Guatemalan border (frontera La Hachadura/Cara Sucia). You'll have the option to get off in Cara Sucia or on the Ahuachapío River bridge, also known as "el desvío Ahuachapío". From either stop, you can wait for a pickup to take you to the park. |
